What a day! The people of Wassa IDP Camp woke up on May 28th, 2016 to receive a host of medical teams and an accompanied avalanche of drugs, varied health services and medical assistance. Wassa is a community of over 5000 internally displaced persons whose circumstances and living conditions have put them at serious risk of ill health.
And because Wassa IDP camp is far from being a stone’s throw from the nearest town, accessing medical services has come with its own challenges. Life Builders Initiative has the interest and welfare of the internally displaced persons at the core of its thematic focuses. Life Builders Initiative successfully mobilized a team of medical personnel, volunteers, non-governmental organizations and health institutions, and no fewer than 500 residents of Wassa IDP camp were attended to medically. Over 100 children between 0-5 years, 382 women, 99 men were reached out to.
The Medical outreach also enabled us to put into active use the Mobile Clinic which was donated to the people of Wassa some months ago and which was launched by the Speaker of the House of representative- Honourable Yakubu Dogara.
