In the world we find ourselves today, it is important to teach the young ones and impact the adults with the mindset that we are all one, despite race, color, religion or any other differences. We are basically humans before any other identification/culture. That is the idea behind Global Citizenship education which was initiated by UNESCO as a way of giving everyone a sense of oneness and preaching the message of love in a bid to curb discrimination and every other ill that has evolved with humans.

On the 7th of December, 2016, as part of our Societal Integration mandate, the founder of Life Builders Initiative for Education and Societal Integration Mr. Sanwo Olatunji-david; who is also a Global Citizen; inaugurated the Global Citizens Club which is based on the core competencies of GCED which are:

  • Non-discrimination
  • Respect for diversity/difference
  • Solidarity for humanity

The Goal of Global Citizen Club is to empower learners to engage and resume active roles both locally and globally to face and resolve global challenges and ultimately to become proactive contributors to a more just, peaceful, tolerant, inclusive and sustainable world.

The club meeting holds every Friday at the 2 School Without Walls Learning Centres, which are located at Camp David, Durumi, Area 1 and New Kuchigoro where we learn about various cultures and practices, using the curriculum provided by UNESCO and, using Global Citizenship Education as a tool to tackle violent extremism and on the following principles:

  • Non-violence
  • Empathy
  • Solidarity for humanity

Mr. Sanwo Olatunji-David the chairman BOT and the Program Director of LBI Ifeoluwa Olatunji-David introduced the concept to the pupil of SWW Camp David Area1 and New Kuchigoro Learning Centers, explaining the concept of Global Citizenship, the necessity, and benefits of being a Global Citizen, and the gaining new grounds we tend to break when we live as a Global Citizens.
