CHILDREN’s DAY is a day dedicated to raising awareness about child right and well-being. Hundreds of events are set to take place that day to celebrate childhood and get people talking about the issues affecting children at the moment and how to solve them. It’s also a day to contribute to the development of their education, health and career as every child is not to be denied such. Child right and protection is also paramount to this celebration because lots of less privileged, vulnerable and underserved children in the society need to be taken off the street.
The program started at exactly 11:00 AM by an opening prayer from the student of School Without Walls (SWW). A warm welcome address was presented by the Director of Life Builder’s Initiative for Education and Societal Integration, Mr. Sanwo Olatunji-David.
The students of School Without Walls (SWW) rendered a welcoming song that got everybody on their feet, it lighted the whole atmosphere.
It was an exciting outing for our children as well as the teachers of SWW, staff of LBI and other invited guest, as we all danced, ate, gave and received gifts. Highlights of the party presented by our little children of pre- school, a play let on the importance of being Global citizens, peace drama and career drama also traditional dances from the Hausa / Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba, Bauchi, Tiv and Gwoza.
The Volunteer Master of Ceremony, MC Asawana of Wazobia Max TV along with his friends thrilled the guests and children with jokes and games, the Volunteer DJ; DeeJay Pro of Cool FM had everyone dancing and having a great time. The Wazobia Max TV crew was also in attendance as they recorded the entire event. The presence of a Bouncing castle and various mascots made the day a memorable for the children.
The hunger for peace among the children compelled them to compose a play let. It demonstrates how to foster unity between Hausa, Igbo, Tiv, Bauchi, Fulani and Yoruba which ended with a dance from different tribes.
Educating the children was not exempted from the celebration. Two teachers from School Without Walls (SWW), Mr. Gabriel and Mr. Offor, conducted a quiz for 5 students from a poll of over 600 students. It was very exciting, educating and informative.
Despite the fact that the program was mainly for the celebration of children, mothers were not also excluded, as Mr. Achumie, the outgoing president of the New Dawn chapter, Rotary club of Abuja, distributed mosquito nets to women in order to help combat the menace caused by mosquitoes, and other baby/household materials.
The children ate to their satisfaction; they danced and enjoyed every bit of the time LBI spent with them. In the end, what matters most is that impact was recorded. Smile was on their face and they felt love.
We would like to appreciate all our partners, volunteers, teachers, and staff of Life Builders Initiative a successful children’s day celebration, we hope to put more smiles and improve more lives for with your continuous support.
