RESUMPTION DATE 24 APRIL 2017
On The 24th Of April 2017, School Without Walls; Camp David Learning Center 1 and New Kuchingoro Learning Center 2; resumed for the 3rd Term after a well spent holiday. The pupils were excited and showed a high level of enthusiasm as they were eager to start lessons. First of all, they had sanitation where they cleaned the school compound after which they were welcomed to school for a new term and were encouraged to study hard so they can be best citizens.
HOLYHILL RELIEF FOUNDATION PARTNERSHIP
During the term, the children of the SWW (Secondary Vocational section), benefited from the partnership with Holyhill Relief Foundation, through their volunteer teachers program. Through the program, HRelieff volunteers took up the responsibility of coming to Camp David Learning center twice a week to teach the students of JSS 1 and 2, Mathematics and English
GLOBAL CITIZENS CLUB
Every Friday was exciting for the students of the SWW as they learned the conducts of being a great Global Citizen! This term, GCC activities were focused on processing information – ways to verify information, differentiating truth from a rumor, learning to get rid of generalizing, getting rid of bad cultural myths that have been passed from generation resulting to discrimination and so on. It was an exciting experience for the kids as they played games, learned various lessons and learned to always ask questions before making assumptions about an individual or a group of people.
SWW CHILDREN VISIT NILE UNIVERSITY FOR MARBLE ART TRAINING
On the 20th of May 2017, Nile University hosted 22 students of the SWW to a Marble Art training, where the children learned a new skill and each and every one of the students created their own Marble Artwork. It was a successful outing and an exciting experience for the children of the SWW. They all went home with an artwork of their own and a certificate of participation for the new skill learned!
APWEN CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION WITH THE FEMALE STUDENTS OF THE SWW
On Children’s Day 27th May 2017, SWW Camp David Learning Center 1 Durumi, was graced with the presence of Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN). They organized a party for the female students, played games, brought refreshments, gift items and had fun with them. They also encouraged them not to mind their environment and circumstances but to study hard and aspire to be better personalities.
CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION AT KAPITAL FM ON 27TH MAY, 2017
Children’s Day was such an exciting day for the children of the SWW, as they were also hosted at Radio House, Garki for a Children’s Day Celebration. There was so much to eat and drink, fun games and activities; the children of the SWW came out top in all games they were involved in. They also presented a dance for the host station – Kapital FM, which made them very excited.
LBI CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION ON 29 MAY 2017
Life Builders Initiative for Education and Societal Integration marked 2017 Children’s Day on the 29th of May 2017. It was an exciting outing for our children as well as the teachers of SWW, the staff of LBI and other invited guest, as we all danced, ate, gave and received gifts. Highlights of the party presented by our little children of pre- school, a play let on the importance of being Global citizens, peace drama, and career drama also traditional dances from the Hausa / Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba, Bauchi, Tiv and Gwoza.
BLOOMING HERITAGE SCHOOL VISIT TO THE SWW NEW KUCHIGORO
On the 11th of July, 2017, the student council, pupils, and teachers of Blooming Heritage School Abuja visited the School Without Walls, center 2, New Kuchingoro and they brought food items for the children of the SWW to support our #feedachild initiative. On their arrival, the pupils of Blooming Heritage School went round to each class of the school to speak with some of the children to get to know how they felt and to give them moral support.
FOURSQUARE GOSPEL CHURCH, TEENAGE MINISTRY VISIT TO SWW CAMP DAVID LEARNING CENTER
On the 26th of July, 2017, the teenagers of Four Square Gospel Church came to visit the School Without Walls, Camp David Learning center, Area 1 to celebrate their teenagers week. They brought along with them, some items for the children in the learning center. On their arrival of the teenagers of Four Square, Bible Church had fun with the children, playing all different types of games and engaging in songs, dance and sports activities. At the end of the visit, a representative spoke to the children encouraging them to be good children and to focus on their studies.
SETRACO NIGERIAN LIMITED VISIT TO THE SWW CAMP DAVID
On the 26th of July Setraco Nigeria Limited visited the SWW Camp David Learning Centre 1. They were touched by the plight of the children and decided to contribute their own quota to the development of the young children, they brought food items to this course. The children were grateful for the kind gesture extended to them and they expressed their gratitude to the representatives of Setraco Nigeria Limited.
NYSC SDGS EDUCATION SUBGROUP 2017, DONATE A MINI LIBRARY TO SWW CAMP DAVID LEARNING CENTER
“Reading is dreaming with open eyes!”
On the 28th of July, 2017, as the children of the SWW received their results in preparation for the long vacation. The NYSC SDGs Education Subgroup 2017, commissioned their project of a mini library at the Camp David Learning center. They donated a shelf and various books for the reading pleasure of the students. The children expressed their excitement and promised to take good care of the books as they read and enjoy them.
We at LBI, appreciate this gesture greatly as it is in line with our mandate of raising a new generation of reading leaders.
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: MISS. TEMI AND FRIENDS
In the last 3 weeks of the session, Miss Temi Alabi and her friends visited the 2 SWW learning centers helping out and teaching the children new skills.
They kicked off new extra curriculum activities such as Book Club, Art Club, and the music club, while they also helped out with exam invigilation, revision for the kids and assisting teachers by marking scripts. They also donated food items such as bags of rice, gallons of oil and cartons of noodle, weekly to support our #FeedAChild initiative. Their presence and impact were greatly felt by the children and the organization.
On the 28th of July, 2017 the SWW went on long vacation. The Program Manager went to the 2 school and made the announcement to the children after they collected their results. She encouraged them to be of good behavior during the holidays. Their report cards were issued to them. The children were also encouraged to keep up the good work but also strive to do better in the next session
